The year was 2013, and the founder Marie Graff and her family decided to move from Denmark to Czech Republic. One of the reasons was work life balance and inner peace that often comes with it. The environmental changes lead to new opportunities, new ideas and for Marie to develop her creativity. In 2015 Marie started to put her design ideas into production. It was the beginning of Kodanska, which means ‘Copenhagen Street” and is the name of the street where the family lived in Prague.
In the summer of 2017 Marie and her family decided to move back to Denmark. The scenery changed from the center of Prague to the countryside of Jutland. It rained non-stop for the first two months, which gave the inspiration to our Danish Summer collection.
Our Danish Summer Collection is designed by Marie Graff in cooperation with Julie Strange. The collection is mouth blown and handmade by Czech artisans with a long history and recognised for their high quality. Glassblowing involves using a blowpipe to inflate molten glass into a bubble and then manipulating it by hand, using wooden molds together with variations in blowing pressure, to achieve a desired shape. Due to the handmade nature, no two pieces are ever exactly alike.
